Sacral chakra

Aromatherapy for your Sacral Chakra

The Sacral Chakra is connected to your sexuality, creativity and socialisation. Blockages in this area can cause problems with your self-image and sex drive, which lead to feelings of negativity, guilt and over-sensitivity. When this Chakra is over-active it creates hedonistic and manipulative behaviour.

Versatile Treatments

Woody and floral oils work well to stimulate the Sacral Chakra when it is blocked or under-active, and citrus oils work well to remedy its over-activity. Massage using essential oils, diluted in a suitable carrier oil or cream base, is a good way to apply aromatherapy treatments to the area below the navel, which corresponds to the Sacral Chakra. Hot and cold compresses can also be used to apply oils. Alternatively, inhaling the oils by taking a warm bath is a good way to influence this Chakra.

Certain oil groups are particularly useful for working with the Sacral Chakra.

A warming and uplifting oil, but it can irritate sensitive skins.

Lemon

This citrus oil cleanses the Sacral Chakra

Sandalwood

Soothing and sensual, sandalwood is a reputed aphrodisiac and helps to create a sensual elevated mood.

Juniper

A purifying oil, but avoid it during pregnancy or if you suffer from kidney problems.

Rose

Uplifting rose is an effective aphrodisiac.

Petitgrain

This oil refreshes your mind and spirits.

Oils for your Sacral Chakra

When the Sacral Chakra is out of balance there are a variety of ways in which you can restore equilibrium, before your behaviour gets out of hand.

Sexual Problems

When the energies of the Sacral Chakra are blocked this can lead to problems including loss of sexual appetite, frigidity or premature ejaculation. As a simple method of treatment, massage the appropriate essential oils into the lower stomach. Use slow, clockwise and circular motions to stimulate the Chakra.

Do not try to work in an anticlockwise direction as this may adversely affect your digestion.

stomach massage

You can apply oils to the pulse points to speed up the beneficial effects to the Sacral Chakra.

Burning oils in a burner and using vaporisers will influence the Sacral Chakra more gently and over a longer period of time.

Low self Esteem

Blockages or under-activity of the Sacral Chakra can adversely affect your self-image and make you feel inadequate and over-sensitive, therefore damaging your self esteem. There are a whole range of aromatherapy techniques you can employ to help balance the Sacral Chakra and restore inner confidence.

  • Using oils on the pulse points and through massage can help their influence to spread more rapidly. Bathing and compresses are also effective.
  • A few drops of a blend on a handkerchief to inhale will ensure that you feel the benefits of the oils through the day.

Healing Insecurity

When the Sacral Chakra is over-active it can cause your normal social behaviour to become overly domineering or, worse, anti-social. The excess of energy emanating from this Chakra can manifest as attention-seeking, manipulative, bullying and hedonistic behaviour. You may also start to fantasise excessively. Obviously, you need to tackle these symptoms sooner rather than later.

  • To counter over-activity, burn the appropriate oils in your oil burner or make a vaporiser spray to use in your home. You could also make an aromatherapy perfume to wear on your pulse points.
  • If you have time, use the oils in a warm bath. This means you not only get the antidote effect but also give yourself the chance to unwind, relax and to let go of stress and tension.
