Yuletide Thanks: Day 2

Yuletide thanks and projections. Merry Christmas

Day 2 of Yule: Reflective Thanks

Today is the second of 12 days traditionally with no work in favour of happiness and merriment with family and friends.

Enjoy the evergreen symbols of protection and rebirth you have brought into your house and continue to welcome those of family and friends as they contribute to the abundance of your surroundings. From today the days become longer with the night drawing in later, marking a clear turning point of the seasons. Light a fresh yule candle as a symbol of this returning light and place it upon your Yule log to burn brightly in your home as a shining reminder.

Today cast your mind back to the first inklings of spring in March and April this year; to the spring equinox where night and day were of equal length and clocks went forward by 1 hour. This was the time of seeing the first fertility of seeds that were sown in earlier months in both nature and ourselves. What were your experiences at that time, did you feel a strong pull towards or away from something and did you follow that pull? Were your actions swallowed up by the everyday relentless pressures of life or were you able to express yourself in ways you’d never thought possible as the hours of daylight began to take over the hours of night? Give thanks for all you achieved during these months and the lessons you learned about yourself and others. Give thanks for all those people who left your life in these months, either painfully or happily and for all those that arrived or returned.

Think about the youthfulness of spring and gives thanks for the blossoming of the first seeds and the abundance that will come from them.

Think about the children that are in your life; they could be your own, members of your immediate family or your friends. You may not have children and never intend to; with this time of year representing the first flush of youth give thanks for your decisions to have, or not have them and think about the valuable lessons they represent.

Think about your own youth and reconnect with the innocence and trust it represented. Give thanks for the lessons you learnt, be they painful or joyous.

Enjoy the ritual of consuming your sweet/fruit/nut symbols of thanks

Have a happy Yule one and all
