Aromatherapy for your Throat Chakra

The Throat Chakra is the centre of creativity and self-expression, enabling you to 'give voice' to opinions and ideas. When the Throat Chakra is blocked or under-active it leads to problems expressing yourself, causing you to feel unhappy. Physically, if the Throat Chakra is unbalanced you are more prone to problems connected with the throat, such as laryngitis, and you may suffer from respiratory ailments. If the Throat Chakra is over-active it can lead to feelings of arrogance, or poor self-esteem if under-active.

Restore your Realistic View

Woody oils stimulate the Chakra and restore self-confidence and self-esteem, and antiseptic oils antidote it and help ground you, bringing you back to a realistic perspective that is not arrogant. Both types of oil can be helpful in dealing with the physical ailments that can arise with problems associated with the Throat Chakra.

Oils for your Throat Chakra

Some supposed winter chills are actually the result of an imbalance in your Throat Chakra. Learn now to use oils to banish the misery of colds and restore your Chakra's harmony.

Healing laryngitis

Laryngitis results from any inflammation of the larynx, which may arise from illness or from too much shouting. Either way it usually indicates a blockage in the Throat Chakra that needs to be treated.

Steam inhalation is the standard way of dealing with laryngitis, as it soothes the throat with the moisture of the water at the same time as getting the oils into the body quickly through the membranes in the larynx.

Steam inhalation

A very hot bath can also have a similar effect if you do not like steam inhalation.

Colds and Flu

In the modern world it is extremely easy to contract colds and flu. This is a reflection of the fact that your Throat Chakra is one of the most sensitive of the Chakras and is the easiest to knock out of balance.

  • Colds can often have a cumulative effect, making you feel miserable and out of sorts. So, as soon as you feel a cold starting, take steps to stop it developing with a stimulating blend.
  • A blend can be applied to the throat and pulse points behind the ears, burned in an oil burner, applied to a handkerchief or used in a flannel soak to apply to your neck and face. Massaging the next with gentle downward strokes can help a great deal by getting everything moving.

Oils for Grounding

If your Throat Chakra is over-active, you can feel as if you know everything. This can lead to arrogant, self-righteous behaviour, ignoring the opinions of others and telling them how things should be, whether you know best or not.

To counter this, antiseptic oils can be used to help ground you, and return your perspective to its usual balance. A blend for applying to your throat, especially the pulse points behind the ears, can help and be easily carried with you. If you are at home a lukewarm compress placed over the throat can also be very beneficial.
