Third Eye Chakra

Energy: Understanding your Third Eye Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra is also known as the Brow or Ajna Chakra. Ajna means 'to know' or 'to perceive', which is appropriate as it is associated with the psychic senses and extra-sensory perception, such as telepathy and precognition.

Women's Intuition

The Third Eye Chakra is often more active in women than men, which may be where the expression 'women's intuition' comes from. The Third Eye Chkara is also associated with the imagination and is the Chakra you use when you visualise the intent of energy work.

This Chakra is often depicted by two petals that correspond to the two sides of the brain, for which the Third Eye Chakra acts as a connecting bridge.

Working the Third Eye Chakra

using these simple exercises at home you will be able to stimulate or calm your Third Eye Chakra and achieve the balance that is the goal of any Chakra healing therapy.

Exercising the Ajna Chakra

Sit comfortably and rub your palms together vigorously for a couple of minutes. Now close your eyes and cup your palms over them. Let your eyes bathe in the warmth and darkness for a minute or so.

The Healing Dark

Open your eyes while your palms are still cupped over them and slowly move your palms away from your face. Repeat this three times.

Stimulating your Third Eye

Amethyst is a very good crystal to use to stimulate your Third Eye. Sit and meditate, holding a piece of amethyst to your Third Eye and move it in slow clockwise circles, gently rubbing your skin as you do.

Energy Source

Feel the purple energy flowing from the amethyst into your brow and imagine your Third Eye being stimulated.

Breathe in to a count of eight, hold your breath for a count of four, and then breathe out to a count of eight. Do this for a few minutes and your mind and body will relax to a calmer state.

Calming with Aromatherapy

aromatherapy lavender

Add 5 drops each of lavender, clary sage, rosemary and chamomile oils to a bowl of cold water. Dip a compress in this blend and hold it to the back of your neck.
